Believe it or not, on September 15, 2017, I lost my Minecraft account.

One might find it to be quite confusing- How does one lose an account just randomly? It started today at 7:30 AM. I started up my laptop and began to play on my favorite Minecraft server, Massivecraft. I logged on to Massivecraft so that I can Roleplay, frankly excited to get some in before the school day. Today was one of those days in particular where I woke up and went to school in an optimistic mood- Nothing could get me down.

So, I logged on, roleplayed, and had a general good time. The morning bell rang- It’s time to get to First Hour. I had the game still open until I chose to turn it off and put my computer away- It’s time to pay attention to school. On the downtime in the First Hour class, I logged onto the server via Minechat. I was able to do everything all fine and well. Because I don’t want to waste any wireless data on my smartphone, I asked my friend, Jonathan, for his hotspot. He’d happily oblige, granting me access to his hotspot so that I may continue my roleplaying. I, of course, had to restart the app because, well, laptops are not allowed to be used in the middle of class. I got on, all good and dandy, roleplaying and having a good time.

Not too much later, I had connection problems. I shrugged it off, expecting it from 3G connection and, well- Minechat! I moved onward to my next class period, where I continued my roleplay. The game kicked me once more. Only this time, it said “Bad login.”

I found myself boggled, because I was on, not even a minute ago. I’d go to the login area and check my credentials. Everything checked out- But it wasn’t working. So, I got to attempt, after attempt, after attempt, until finally, I decided to face my fate. I looked at my friend with a frown, then pulled up Skype, talking to the group I normally speak with.

“My account has been compromised. If I show up without forewarning, it’s not me.” I typed, sending it to the group. I later explained the entire story to them.

Eventually, my Fifth hour came along, and I was unhappy. My Minecraft Account- My most valuable account to me, being over 5 years old, and the only thing I’ve used for that long (excluding email). It was around that time when I had the clever idea of changing my password.

“Ah! A hacker would need to work on accessing my account again if I kicked them out with a new password!” I thought to myself.

So, I made my intentions clear. Once given a good opportunity, I got onto mojang.com, did some of that password change magic, and voila, I should be able to play the game now—…. Nope. At this point, I was panicked.

Then, I looked at my email, and facepalmed. 

As it turns out, the account was never hacked, and I kept spamming password changes after that. Mojang assumed the account was compromised, so they chose to disable it. Then, I kept changing the password too quickly for it to register. Basically, I was too slow to realize the obvious.

ANYWAYS! The account is recovered, I’m happy, and I enjoyed sharing this story, though a bit belated! I started it in September. To be exact, September 15, 2017. So, it’s about time I posted this. Thank you so much for looking at this, and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
